Introduction

WikiPeek is a Chrome extension that gives you instant Wikipedia-powered previews for any term you hover over or select. We respect your privacy and designed WikiPeek to work locally in your browser without collecting personally identifiable information.

Data We Collect

WikiPeek does not collect or transmit personal data such as your name, email address, or browsing history. The only information stored is minimal local settings (e.g., your preferred mode, hover delay, or whether images are enabled) using Chrome’s storage API. These settings remain on your device and are never shared with us.

How We Use Data

Stored preferences are used only to improve your experience — for example, remembering that you prefer Cursor Mode by default or caching recent previews for faster results. No data is sent to external servers except requests to Wikipedia to retrieve article summaries.

Permissions

WikiPeek requests the following Chrome permissions:

These permissions are essential for the single purpose of providing Wikipedia previews. We do not request access to unnecessary data.

Third Parties

WikiPeek relies only on Wikipedia (via wikipedia.org) to provide article summaries and thumbnails. No third-party analytics, advertising networks, or trackers are included in the extension.

Policy Changes

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page. Material changes will be highlighted in the Chrome Web Store listing and release notes. Your continued use of WikiPeek after updates means you accept the revised policy.
